Unscheduled "Flash" Field Trip to Lakefront & Snowy Owl Search @ Waukegan Beach - Start at | Waukegan | Illinois | United States

Impromptu “flash” field trip to search for Snowy Owl on the Lake County shoreline.

Tentative itinerary begins at Waukegan Beach, then Illinois Beach State Park (south unit) and north to North Point Marina. Possible warming pit stop for coffee and donuts at CJ’s Coffee House.

Possible bird targets, in addition to the owl, include scoters, long-tailed duck and red-throated loon.

Directions:

Take Route 120 (Belvidere Rd.) east, drive to the lake, turn left on Pershing Rd. right on E Clayton, left on Sea Horse Drive, and bear right to beach parking lot.
