The Incredible Bird Diversity of San Diego County @ Online - Zoom

With a county list of over 500 species, San Diego is a spectacular place for birding any month of the year. From the interior desert of Anza Borrego to the coniferous forests of the Laguna Mountains and westward to the coastal lagoons and bays, it offers a wide variety of habitats and ecoregions.

California birder John Sterling, head of Sterling Wildlife Biology tours and a member of the record-setting Big Day team that recorded 217 species in San Diego on May 1, 2005, will give a virtual tour of the county with locations that showcase the county’s best birding spots and birds. John is also a professional ornithologist who has worked for 40 years for the Smithsonian Institution, the US Forest Service research laboratories in California, various universities, consulting firms and other groups. His birding website with his many photo galleries is www.sterlingbirds.com.
