It’s an Irruption Year: Winter Finches Are Here! @ Online - Zoom

It’s a winter finch irruption year for Illinois, with species like Common Redpolls, Red Crossbills, White-winged Crossbills and Evening Grosbeaks making rare local appearances as they travel farther south than usual because of poor cone and berry crops in Canada. Tyler Hoar, an Ontario biologist and ecologist who this year took over the Winter Finch Forecast from founder Ron Pittaway, will fill us in on the species we’re seeing and why they’re here.
